Welcome to New York

I honestly don’t even know where to begin with this post. New York City is one of my favorite places to visit and it never gets old. Over the past few years, I have taken a few trips there and have a collection of sights and foods I would love to share.

Central Park – Belvedere Castle

If you have never been to NYC, Central Park is a must. When I visited this past October, my friends and I took a walk through the very center of it. I was shocked to learn that there is a castle in the middle of the park. Belvedere Castle has a great view of the city and is the site of the official Central Park weather station. Its beautiful and off the beaten path.

Times Square

Ok so…. I know what you are thinking. True New Yorkers hate Time Square and probably can’t believe that I am putting a segment in about it. When I went to the city last year, I was with my boyfriend and he had never been before. We had to go and I am happy we did. If you are going to go, I recommend going during the day on a weekday. It was surprisingly quiet and we actually stumbled upon a bar that had an awesome view of the vibrancy Time Square has to offer.

R Lounge at Two Times Square had the most perfect view of Times Square and fun cocktails.

Bagels

Yes, this needs it’s own section. I am by no means a NYC bagel expert but I have tried a few places and this is what I have loved. Any time I go to New York, I consume a bagel every single day.

Best Coffee and Bagel – #1 for me. Mike and I went on our first day in the city and I have craved the same bagel ever since. Keep in mind… This was October of 2019. Their lox bagel has the perfect ratio of bagel to cream cheese to salmon.

Sadelle’s – Delicious & pricey. This is where you want to go if you want fresh, sliced to order salmon and an exceptional experience.

Bagels & Schmear – This place was in Kipps Bay and right next to where my friend lives. Delicious. I went back more than once in a weekend… if that says anything.

Ess-a-bagel – Good. Definitely good. Not at the top of the list. This shop might be in the most ideal location though and would be worth checking out.

Dinner & Drinks

Thursday Kitchen – Fun Asian-inspired tapas. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Definitely get the edamame dumplings and truffle mac. They also have fun glow-in-the-dark drinks. Get those too.

Beauty & Essex – This place was unlike any restaurant I’ve been to. The entrance is disguised as a record shop. Behind the record shop is a stunning, elegant restaurant that turns into a club late at night. This is the spot to go if you want a superb meal, good drinks and are ready to party afterwards. Order the Grilled Cheese, Smoked Bacon & Tomato Soup Dumplings. Trust me.

Pado – Unreal sushi restaurant at a reasonable price. Everything was amazing! They are close right now due to COVID but I am praying they will open back up! If you love sushi and sashimi, go here.
